Spa Land in Busan, Korea

I found a slice of heaven at 6AM in Korea's second largest city, Busan, located on the Pacific Coast. A gigantic, modern jjimjilbang (Korean-style sauna/spa) located inside Shinsegae Department Store Centum City, reportedly the world's largest department store, is Spa Land. The water in Spa Land's baths and pools is pumped from two types of hot springs that lie 100 meters underground, and which are sterilized 36 times a day. The"sodium bicarbonate hot spring" is the "beauty bathtub," said by the spa to "remove your dead skin cells and make your skin and hair shiny."The "sodium chloride hot spring" is "similar to seawater" and has a "heat-preservation effect" that is "good for blood circulation and helps to relieve pain from neuralgia and backache."There's a tarot card reading station set up near the entrance, but most people beeline past this and head straight for the outdoor foot bath area.Spa Land has dreamed up a variety of themes for its many steam and sauna rooms. These range from extremely hot (I couldn't enter this one without yelping in pain) to extremely cold (the Ice Room has a cute, fake jellyfish aquarium) to themed rooms. Oh and no kids under 18!

.
Hot and steamy.

I was the only person in the outdoor area!

All mine!

Pure contentment.

Many lounge areas in this architectural marvel.

All these room have different natural properties that purify and cleanse the body.

Pools of water just to induce relaxation.

Quartz room.

TV room with radiant floor heating. Grab a cushion and you're set. The snack bar is steps away. There is also a computer room and a game room.

I'm a big fan of these massage chairs. They're  super popular in Korea and you'd be surprised at all the places on your body they can access and relax. I was looking around at one point to see if anyone was watching what my chair was doing to me!! I was prepared to give him a name and make a date!!

Sit down and have a refreshing vinegar drink and a snack.

Feel the peace, smell the fragrant orchids.

Oxygen therapy and other machines that claim to do the opposite of tanning. Koreans do not want to have yellowish skin color so they buy whitening products.

View of skyscrapers across the street.

The Roman room.

Hammam room.

Cool down room.

Outside foot bath.

There are of course treatment facilities, a beautiful restaurant and many other tempting rooms. Four hours for fourteen bucks to use all the stuff I showed you. I will really miss this place!
