Jagalchi Fish Market, Busan Korea

I love a good fish market so when I heard this was the fifth busiest port in the world, I had to visit. The city’s bustling port activities also means that seafood is aplenty here – good news for tourists like me! This place is massive. It 's sectioned off with fresh creatures and dried. Koreans generally prefer their seafood raw or dried. There's a road called Octopus Street lined on both sides with ma and pop cafes all serving live octopus. It wiggles as it goes down! The second floor of this market prepares the seafood you purchase on the first floor. Like any good fish market it has absolutely no fishy smell. There are shellfish I have never seen before and just like in the meat shops, nothing goes to waste!

                          They love their squid!

Yes, I wanted this fresh ing Crab, but the cheapest we could find was $65.
All the side dishes (banchan) are an essential part of the meal  and more importantly refilled until you have had enough!

We ordered a beer and pointed at another table's seafood soup and mimed that we would like it too!

You know I am very happy at this moment!  Crab and          shrimp and mussels and scallops. The broth is amazing.

Endless live squiggly creatures.

Tentacles are served raw, steamed, grilled in soups, salads and dried with a sweet coating--tastes like candy!

Taking a short nap is pretty typical of workers at their stalls no matter what they are selling. Most shops are open for ten hours, so they gotta get some shut-eye on the job. On the left are the ever popular squirmy eels. They get skinned and sliced and swallowed!

                                                    Eels before they were skinned.
