Food Courts in Korea

Every department store has an entire floor with a food court and a huge grocery store. They are pricey, but oh so fun to try all the interesting tasty treats! Here's a selection of what you will find:

Bakery. Often the items look amazing, but don't quite live up to their aesthetic appeal.  When we                 really want a good croissant we travel to a little French village to get the real thing.
Doughnuts. There are more Dunkin Donut and Krisp Kreme shops here than you would                      believe.
This is a batter with veggies poured in the mold, an egg added then a slice of bacon or a prawn and more batter on top. Perfect finger sandwich. I think this would be a hug hit in the States. Think of all the possible combinations! It reminds me of the ebelskiver my mom used to prepare in the cast iron molds.
Traditional fishcake on a stick in broth and rice cake noodles with hot pepper sauce.
The waffles are stuffed with ice cream and rolled up like a burrito.
Fancy cakes are so beautiful. They are much smaller than what we see at home and $35-$50.

                                                              Truffles are amazing!
Another popular franchise I did not expect to find here: Auntie Annie's. I thought there were only a few in the malls at home.

Of course there are plenty of mandu, potstickers, and fried veggie pancakes.
Bimbap is the easiest food to eat on the go. It's just egg and veggies and rice rolled up in seaweed.

Another item I was surprised to see both at the food courts and on street food trucks are churros.

You'll see lines all day long for the fried squid! One of these with a lemonade                                         and you're good to go.

                                                      More waffles with sugary toppings.
Whole deep fried chickens. They don't shoot up their birds here, so they're regular size and taste like real chicken. $15 each.

Kebabs are super popular. Chicken, pork, beef, veggies, octopus and squid are two bucks a stick.
